Clinton Centre

The Clinton Centre convened a conference of future leaders and entrepreneurs to debate and refine their own ideas, ambitions and plans for building prosperity in post-conflict societies.

University students from Kosovo, Northern Ireland, and the United States, who had demonstrated leadership and entrepreneurial promise participated in an interactive forum with a panel of experienced business executives, accomplished entrepreneurs, academics, and community activists. The participants shared their own business start-up ideas and strategies with the panel, incorporating feedback and recommendations in real time.

In light of the knowledge gained in the seminars and discussions, participants and their teams developed ideas for business start-ups in their own countries. Plans took into account unique opportunities and knowledge of the background culture that would attract investors to business partnerships in their areas.

As part of their business plans, participants analysed obstacles and their proposals included strategies for successfully dealing with local realities and opportunities provided by the globalised economy.

Conflict-legacy issues including sectarianism, racism and segregation were considered.
